Who We Are
Based in Glaslyn, Saskatchewan, L&M is a manufacturing facility that has been producing speciality wood products for over 50 years. The Meadow Lake Tribal Council (MLTC), via its corporate business development entity MLTC Industrial Investments LP (MLTCII), purchased the assets of L&M Wood Products (L&M) in October of 2018.
MLTC anticipates improving and maximizing the current L&M mill assets in producing a variety of speciality wood products. Opportunity has arisen to fully utilize the entire softwood and hardwood supply available to operations so the right tree goes to the right mill. Integrating timber supply for both NorSask Forest Products LP and L&M through Mistik Management Ltd will further enhance forestry operations.
The capital upgrades identified for the L&M operations will serve to improve the Indigenous ownership presence in the forest product industry in Canada but also ensure that L&M Wood Products becomes the flagship, 100% Indigenous-owned manufacturer of specialty wood products (timbers, posts and rails) in Canada.
The ongoing 30-year story of MLTC ownership in the forest industry, including this new acquisition of L&M, is important in that it provides new domestic and international wood market growth opportunities, continued regional employment for Indigenous communities and economic stability.
100% Indigenous Ownership
MLTC ownership will ensure the ongoing sustained operation of this newly-acquired 100% Indigenous-owned enterprise, contributes to economic stability for the Indigenous owners, provides sustained Indigenous employment and maintains the ongoing local businesses dependent on the success of the L&M operation.
